Editorial: The Rwandan Armed Forces in a Country Full of Traitors

The Inkotanyi arrived quite early at the outskirts of the Ruhengeri town. Before 10:00 p.m., they had started to kill with knives members of the population as well as certain members of the armed forces found at the roadblocks. Before their arrival, they knew all the places where the Rwandan Armed Forces protecting the Ruhengeri town had camped, their number and equipment. During the Ruhengeri battle, it turned out that members of the Rwandan Armed Forces present were few. Those who were, for instance, on Mount Nyamagumba, were captured with the Inyenzi on the 8th from 1:00 a.m. till dawn. Since the ammunition had exhausted, they came down and the Inkotanyi climbed this hill.

Once they were camped, they shelled tremendously the Mubona camp located at the foot of the hill. The armed forces held out. The Inkotanyi also shelled the Ruhengeri hospital.

Patients and the injured among the Rwandan Armed Forces were thus deprived of medical care.

They came decided. They cut off the access roads that made it possible to stock the Rwandan soldiers from Ruhengeri. They showed that the attacker was more a strategist than an attacker who only fights, without knowledge of where his enemy could emerge. They had arranged everything in order. It is clear that the M.D.R., P.L. and P.S.D. parties with which they had signed agreements in Brussels designed to bring them news, have properly discharged their duties. Such a situation is difficult for the Rwandan Armed Forces, which continue to preserve the country’s integrity in the midst of traitors like Twagiramungu, Nsengiyaremye and the others. However, honest Rwandans still have confidence in their armed forces, which are soon going to chase the Inyenzi away.

We have the feeling that the dismissal and detention of members of the Rwandan Armed Forces are a betrayal, which should be condemned in time. New measures must be taken. Capable Rwandans who have the will must sign military training contracts with their country. At the end of their training, they would go home but would be called at the same time, if the need arises, to defend the country. Consideration will also be given to resources to be mobilized in order to avoid adverse effects, which can [illegible].
